Marija was born in Slovenia. For two years she was part of D.A.N.C.E. (European interdisciplinary professional program) under the artistic direction of Frédéric Flamand, William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor and Angelin Preljocaj. In 2009 she joined the Batsheva Ensemble, where she danced in Ohad Naharin’s and Sharon Eyal’s creations. After that she joined Vertigo Dance Company in 2012, where she danced in pieces by Noa Wertheim, Sharon Fridman and Anna Halprin. Since 2018 she is a part of tanzmainz, Staatstheater Mainz, where she got a chance to work with Guy Nader, Maria Campos, Guy Weizman, Roni Haver, Roy Assaf, Victor Quijada, Giuseppe Spota and Pierre Rigal.
She has been teaching Gaga since 2010.
In class Marija Slavec is going to work on strengthening the body, adding flexibility and agility by waking up our senses and imagination. Through guided and structured improvisation she will try to raise the awareness of physical weaknesses and numb areas and try to find ways of their elimination.
